LARGE,  40-inch  Plaque

Designed to be placed over a door, mantle, bed, etc.

This is narrow and very long,  it will extend over the

door and it's trim for most doorways. 

The piece is about 11 inches high

and is on    3/4-inch thick pine, with curved top, as shown here.

Families come in lots of colors and combinations these days.  Wherever there is Love, there is "Family".  If you look closely, you'll see a large, "extended family" having dinner inside the windows of the house.  A "single parent" shelters two baby chicks in the nest in the tree.  The Goose Family have two parents, not sure if they are a Daddy and a Mom, or 2 Dads, or 2 Moms - whatever the combination, it's a fine family with a much-loved gaggle of goslings. Another "single parent" has a litter of playful puppies.  The sheep are a "mixed family"; one parent black, one parent white, and adorable spotted lambs !

No one could say exactly who thought of it first. It started as a discussion in the General Store over coffee. ..........then it gained momentum. 

They thought the big barn on the old Schindlerr farm was a good "canvas". 

As luck would have it,  Jerry and Mike had three gallons of white paint handy. 

Mrs. Adjijan had some spare brushes.   And, of course, the Changs had that tall ladder of theirs.   Before they knew it, they were full-speed ahead.  It was fun work -- happy work.    

Just as the sun was setting, they decided it was finished and all stepped back to admire their job.  FINISHED !    Just  in time for dinner

"American Primitive Folk Art style is a natural for me.  The simple, back-to-nature, old-fashioned life it depicts is the way I actually live.  This gives me an endless supply of inspiration and ideas. And, even... models ! Missey, my real-life Jersey cow was the model for the "Give Away" painting, for example. 

I create with a mix of media, predominantly acrylics, and paint on "antiqued" wood panels.  The "antiquing" process includes several layers of paint, alternated with a process that creates the aged, crackled effect that would be found on a very old, painted surface. "
